When my boys were little, I started decorating cookies because I wanted to bring adorable treats to their classroom parties. The next day, I had a phone interview, and we instantly hit it off—laughing and chatting about all things cookies! After that call, she passed my name on to a producer, and several Zoom interviews later, I received the thrilling news: I would be competing on the Food Network Christmas Cookie Challenge. The challenge? I had to develop my original recipes, which I’d never done before. Determined to succeed, I bought a book on the science of baking and got to work, crafting recipes from scratch based on everything I was learning.
